Dominion Virginia Power announced on Oct. 12, 2011, that it will donate up to $2 million in matching funds to EnergyShare's heating assistance program to help thousands of individuals and families in need heat their homes this winter season. This is in addition to a $2 million contribution in June to EnergyShare's cooling assistance program, bringing the 2011 total to $4 million. (> View news release and video)

EnergyShare is Dominion's energy assistance program of last resort for anyone who faces financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis.

EnergyShare is a heating and cooling assistance program in Virginia, and a heating assistance program in North Carolina and Ohio. In Virginia and North Carolina, heating assistance applies to any heat source - oil, gas, kerosene, wood and electricity. In Ohio, the program pays for Dominion gas bills only.

Payments go directly to energy vendors and every cent donated goes to benefit those in need because Dominion and social service agencies pay for the program's administrative expenses.

Funds come from tax-deductible donations from customers, stockholders, employees, EnergyShare Partners and Dominion. Funds are distributed through a network of nonprofit health and human service agencies.

Last year, EnergyShare spent more than $4 million to assist customers in need.

In Ohio, contact your local Salvation Army.

How to Contribute

Dominion electric customers: Simply add $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, or $35 to the amount due on your bill. Overpayments in these exact amounts are automatically recognized as a contribution and it will be documented on your next bill. Or, mail a check for any amount (made payable to "EnergyShare") to EnergyShare, P.O. Box 91717, Richmond, VA 23291-1717. In North Carolina, the mailing address is EnergyShare, P.O. Box 370, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870-0370.
Dominion East Ohio customers: Simply add $1, $2, $6, $12, $18, or $36 to the amount due on your bill. Overpayments in these exact amounts are automatically recognized as a contribution and it will be documented on your next bill. Or, mail a check for any amount (made payable to "EnergyShare") to EnergyShare, The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 5847, Cleveland, OH 44101.
Business customers: You can be an EnergyShare Partner by contributing, by distributing information to their customers and employees, and by providing other support. Contact us for information on becoming an EnergyShare Partner.

Authorized EnergyShare agencies can authorize payments and generate reports online.
EnergyShare intake agencies can access account information online to view an applicant's account statements, bill history or scheduled orders.
