Selection Process

Strong Men & Women - Excellence in Leadership

Strong Men & Women is a unique program developed by Dominion to provide our youth with positive role models, African-American men and women whose accomplishments and determination demonstrate true excellence in leadership.

Selection Criteria

• Candidates should be positive role models and demonstrate leadership in their chosen field.
• Should be someone whose achievements have made an imprint upon some facet of national or local life. (National ranks higher than local.)
• Individuals who have been the first in initiating some activity or promulgated some philosophy which made a better life or nation.
• Someone who has shown courage in public life and public service or has been a first or held a record the longest in some great cause for the uplifting of humanity.
• To the extent possible, someone who was born in Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, or West Virginia or has ties to the company's service area.

Nominations

Nominations should meet some of the above criteria and include a bio if possible. Candidates are usually selected around March and April for the following year. Selections are made by an internal panel.
