Biodiversity Alliance and Dominion were proud to announce 2007 as the inaugural year of the Northeast Ohio Environmental Awards. The Awards ceremony for the recipients of the 2007 awards was held on October 5, 2007, in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Murch Auditorium.
The awards program recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of organizations, businesses and individuals in a wide range of environmental initiatives throughout the region and pays tribute to those that have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence, leadership and accomplishment in their respective fields.

Dominion and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council partnered in 2003 to establish the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards Program. Community groups, schools, volunteers, government officials and non-profits who have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence, leadership and accomplishment in their respective fields are eligible to participate. In 2005, five awards were presented in the areas of community involvement, government, green design and education.
The Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards were established to encourage the community to adopt the standards set by successful nominees, thereby promoting innovative environmental efforts and enhancing the quality of life in western Pennsylvania.
Donations of $1,000 were made on behalf of each winner to a local non-profit of their choice.
