Thanks in part to a $300,000
grant from Dominion, the first outdoor interactive information station
in Virginia was unveiled by Gov. Tim Kaine on April 9, 2007 at a news
conference at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. By mid-May,
31 state parks in Virginia will have the information stations on-site,
making Virginians the first in the nation to take virtual tours of their
state parks.
The stations, or kiosks, will enable park visitors
to access trail information, wildlife spotting guides, information on
park amenities, printable guides and maps, program descriptions, schedules
and more, using a global positioning system, or GPS. |
