Dominion Sponsors First Interactive Kiosks for Virginia State Parks

Thanks in part to a $300,000 grant from Dominion, the first outdoor interactive information station in Virginia was unveiled by Gov. Tim Kaine on April 9, 2007 at a news conference at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. By mid-May, 31 state parks in Virginia will have the information stations on-site, making Virginians the first in the nation to take virtual tours of their state parks. The stations, or kiosks, will enable park visitors to access trail information, wildlife spotting guides, information on park amenities, printable guides and maps, program descriptions, schedules and more, using a global positioning system, or GPS.

The kiosks will also provide interactive virtual tours of every state park trail. More than 30,000 park images are included in the programming, and about 500 miles of park trails have been mapped with GPS coordinates.

Dominion's logo will be displayed on the outside of each kiosk, as well as on each principal navigation screen.  Text and images about the company will inform visitors of Dominion's commitment to the environment and the communities it serves. A video presentation shows how Dominon volunteers give of their time and talent.
