Electricity Safety

Electricity Safety

Electricity plays an essential role in our modern world. However, there are many electrical hazards in your home or workplace. It is important to be aware of these dangers and learn how to avoid them.

Electricity always seeks the shortest path to the ground. It tries to find a conductor, or something that it can pass through to get to the ground, like metal, wet wood or water. Since your body is about 70% water, it also is a good conductor. So, for example, if you happen to touch a faulty appliance or an energized bare wire while your feet are touching the ground, electricity will pass through you to the ground. This can cause a harmful or even fatal shock.

Review the information below to learn how you can stay safe and avoid hazardous situations.
