Grants Go To ‘Green’ Projects

Earth Day GrantsTen Ohio nonprofit organizations will share $112,000 in Earth Day grants.

The grants are for protecting endangered species, restoring wetlands, preserving forests and for environmental outreach.

Some recipients include:

  • Cleveland Zoological Society - for its ZooBus Free Lunch program, which engages children in environmentally focused educational programs.
  • WVIZ/WCPN Ideastream, Cleveland - which uses multiple media to educate and build awareness of how individual actions affect the environment.
  • Habitat for Humanity, recycling through Restore programs - for its work in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Lima, Youngstown and other areas.

In all, the Dominion Foundation issued $1.1 million in grants in 11 states. The grants went to environmental organizations in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
