Take Care Of Your Meter

Your meter is the point where natural gas comes into your home. Please treat it with care.

Here are some safety tips to help keep your gas meter in good working condition this winter:

Have leaky gutters cleaned and repaired to keep melting snow and ice from dripping on the meter.
Never allow ice to cover your gas meter.
If you find your meter covered in ice, do not try to remove the ice by any means. Instead, call us at 1-800-688-4673.
Use caution when shoveling snow, plowing or snow blowing to avoid hitting the meter or piling snow against it.
Remove soft snow buildup on your meter gently, using a broom or your hand, not a shovel.

Reading your meter

When you read your meter, read from left to right.

If a pointer is between numbers, record the smaller one.

If it’s between 9 and 0, use 9. You can submit readings online or by calling 1-800-688-4673 within 48 hours before the next billing date on your bill.
